Happy Viability Week to Brody and I!

How far along? 24 Weeks! Viability day!!!!!

Total weight gain/loss: 20 #'s total - may have lost a lb or 2 on my vacay! A lot of walking!

Stretch marks? Nope not yet!

Sleep: I had a great week of sleep being in San Diego!

Best moment this week: - Brodys first trip to San Diego (haha)

- Seing him move for over an hour straight (I fell asleep watching him move!) I could watch that all day long.

Movement: Kicking, punching, elbowing, somersaults!

Food cravings: I want my crab cake sandwhich from the Wavehouse - its only a 5.5 our plane ride away! And still grapefruits and oranges!

Labor Signs: Nope. (Lets keep it that way for ...um... another 11 weeks at least, please!)

Belly Button in or out? Flat, but not out yet!

What I miss: San Diego, Living in Vegas, Being WARM! Oh ... and not so much of anything pre-pregnancy. (maybe seeing my feet!)

What I am looking forward to: -getting the wood floors done in Brodys room. - Putting together the furniture. - Being in labor and having our baby. Seriously, I cannot wait. - Coreys Surprise. - My baby Shower (only a month and a week away!)

Weekly Wisdom: Hmmm....

Milestones: Viability Day! If Brody is born now, he would have a chance of surviving.

How big is baby: Brody is about 1 lb and 5 oz and is just over a foot long! ( as of the week 23 u/s!
Your baby's muscles are now well developed and you will feel baby using them. Little wrinkles are starting to appear on the palms and fingertips. Whilst smaller foetuses suck their thumbs instinctively, your baby is now able to consciously suck his or her thumb and may do so in a regular pattern.

Brodys Room: Same as last week.

Best Corey QOTW: "Oh my God, If I knew I had 115 days left till I had to push a watermellon out of my vagina, I would be sh!tting myself!"

Here is a picture of Corey opening our new Baby gear... The Recaro Car seat! He is in Heaven with this!

22 week post!

So on friday night we were getting ready to start the floors when Corey looked at me (from the side) and said: "When did that happen?" I mean, he sees me every day, so its not like I suddenly grew a belly, but apperently Brody had a growth spurt over last week... Then he proceded to tell me "You better go to target and get that Shea Butter!" haha

How far along? 22 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 20 #'s total

Maternity clothes? I am removing this question from the survey from here on out - yep - maternity and PJs are all I can fit now!

Stretch marks? Nope not yet!

Sleep: I could take it or leave it. If I get comfy, I will sleep like a rock. If not - eh.

Best moment this week: Feeling such hard kicks from Brody that I jump!

Movement: See above

Food cravings: oranges, cookie dough.

Gender: He is a boy - That's not going to change (hopefully - if it does then Brody becomes a Leah, haha) I am removing this question after this week!

Labor Signs: Nope. (Lets keep it that way for ...um... another 13 weeks at least, please!)

Belly Button in or out? Almost out (and freaking me out!)

What I miss: Running.

What I am looking forward to: -the day that Corey can feel our baby kick.
-getting the wood floors done in Brodys room. - Putting together the furniture.

21 weeks and counting!

How far along? 21 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: well my insulin requirements have doubled - (boo! - I thought I was going to be the one lucky person that this does not happen to. I guess not) and with that comes a lot of weight gain. 20 #'s total - so on average 1# a week.

Maternity clothes? Just bought a bunch on sale at www.oldnavy.com they are having a sale on maternity clothes right now and if you use babymat as a coupon code you get free shipping!

Stretch marks? Nope not yet!

Sleep: I have been sick this past week and cannot breath - so I am not really sleeping well at all. I watched 4 episodes of Fresh Prince and 2 episodes of Rosanne at 2am on Thursday night and 7 episodes of LOST on Friday night. I need some sleep!

Best moment this week: Finding out that Brodys heart is in perfect condition!

Movement: Sporadic kicking

Food cravings: oranges

Gender: yep, still a boy

Labor Signs: Nope. (Lets keep it that way for ...um... another 14 weeks at least, please!)

Belly Button in or out? Almost out (and freaking me out!)

What I miss: Lambrusco

What I am looking forward to: -the day that Corey can feel our baby kick.
-getting the wood floors done.

Weekly Wisdom: have a pregnancy induced meltdown while your hubby is still at work, I cried for about 15 minutes after I got off the phone with Corey after a discussion about groceries - there was no reason for my irrational tears.

Milestones: Perfect heart!

(now this may be confusing - How can my baby go from a cantaloupe to a banana you ask? I wondered the same thing too, but they compare length, not overall size with this one.... )

19 weeks down and 20 - well sort of - more to go!

So "the well sort of" part comes from the fact that as of my last 2 appts my OB told me that I would be getting induced in week 37-38... whenever my baby reaches a certain weight, to eliminate the need to push with enormous force. (See there are some advantages to this brain issue....) Although, I have to say, I have been reading The Birth Book and it almost makes me wish I could try natural childbirth, almost. But I know that health wise that it is not even an option, so that settles that.
So seeing that my due date is the 30th of June, I could be giving birth anywhere from the 9th of June! That would be incredible... to meet our little one early :)
About our little guy : He is 19 weeks today the size of a mango!! (quite possible one of my favorite fruits)and his name..... Brody!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic The average fetus is 6.0 inches and 8.5 Oz! (Brody was measuring at 13 cm head to butt at our appointment last Wed!)

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature. - eh - not the most appealing bit of info for this week, but that what I've got.

Brody is kicking harder and stronger now. I was sitting at my desk yesterday and he got 4 really good ones in a row just to the left of my belly button. That is so cool! Although they are still not full blown kicks, and try as hard as he can, Corey still cannot feel them, they are getting there.

I go to the salon today to finally get my hair highlighted ... I had an appointment to get it done in early December, but I was skeptical in the first tri. So I cancelled and just got a cut last time. I cannot wait to spend the afternoon getting my hair highlighted. I love my salon, you get there, you get a glass of wine (or for me now, probably a cup of tea) and get to relax. When I go for the highlights and the cut I probably am there for 2 hours. I love it. And I have gotten pretty close with the girl that does my hair (Corey has been going to her for almost 10 years and I started when we moved back to WI) She came to our wedding, we went to hers... Its just nice to go get my hair done and to have real conversation, not just that annoying small talk you get when you don't really know your stylist. I cant wait to get home and post belly pics and new hair pics! Wahhhhhhooo! (PS It is 7:30 am right now....)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Image and video hosting by TinyPic Ok So we tried something different with my style tonight, and I dont really like it all that much, but the good part is, is that she did not cut it differently, so I can just style as normal. But I love the highlights. I was in major need of those!!

Grow Baby Grow!

Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

A little recap:

Week 17

Wow - Bun and I sure are growing and I love it!

Not too much new going on this week. Bun is moving all around like crazy! Sunday what the best day of moving yet. I constantly felt the flutters and swooshing of the baby moving... it was great!

No new symptoms going on... except the leakage - and that's all I need to say to remember what I mean, so I am leaving it at that.

I did not go for my spinal today. The Neurologist really messed up and wrote the orders for me to have the procedure done, without specifying to the hospital that I am pregnant. Apparently the dye that they inject into you to do the spinal is extremely dangerous to the baby and they cant go in blind, because that could cause paralysis. So until the baby is born, I will not be having that done. I am going to see a specialist within the next two weeks to see if they can figure anything out. If not we are going to go with the cautious birth plan [strong epi - minimal pushing for me - possible forceps :( ] But whatever keeps me and our little Bun safe is what we are going with. I don't even want to think about what would have happened if I was not a better advocate for myself - What if I just assumed they knew I was pregnant and they did the spinal. Yikes. I cant even imagine what we would do if something happened to Bun.

I will keep everyone updated on whats going on with that as I learn more.

Next weeks post will have NEW ULTRASOUND PICS!! And hopefully the answer to the question .... boy or girl! Ahhhh! I am so excited I can't believe that its almost here! My mom is going with Corey and I to see ( Its been 22 years since she has seen an u/s done, so I figured she would love it - and to be the first to know what we are having!) the ultrasound and then we are going out to celebrate!

Oh and I have been having the strangest cravings for bloody Marys this week - well, I should clarify- A V8 with a pickle an olive and a piece of string cheese. This is very strange for me, but I can't get enough!!

POP goes my tummy! (16 weeks!)

23 more weeks to go... That seems so far away still! I am 16 weeks today and have definitely "popped". You tell me:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
(I will post some better pictures when Corey gets home tonight!)
People who do not know me very well are noticing that I am pregnant now. My 86 yr old patient patted my belly yesterday when I took my coat off in her home and said "AW.... when are you due?" Very cute.
Our little Bun is now the size of an avocado. About 3.5 oz and 4.5 inches!
Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender!
We have 15 days till we find out... and I can't even wait. To see Bun again, to find out if Bun is a girl or a boy (Still thinking boy...). I just cannot wait.
Our Crib and glider came in today. We aren't picking anything up until the rest of it comes in. But that is also exciting!
Also, my new favorite mommy-to-be item - My Mamma Bees Leg and Foot Creme, by Burts Bees... OMG- talk about an awesome lotion. It promotes circulation of the legs and feet and just makes tired legs feel energized. When its on it cools and tingles! I love it!

I can say now that I can FOR SURE feel the baby moving around. Its just flutters but, feel them I do! Especially after a busy day and laying down for a while, when it is calm and I can feel him moving around. :) I just cannot wait for the kicks!

I am ending with a pic of Corey and our two dogs... Aw! Their so cute :)

15 weeks and my little navel orange!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Wow 15 weeks are here and only 175 more days to go! Yay! I am beyond excited to be at this point. 2nd week of my 2nd tri :) And feeling more and more pregnant every day! I know that Bun is only the size of an orange, but my baby belly is growing more and more. Each day is different though, sometimes my bump is more pronounced and other times, I still just look like I had one too many hostess cupcakes :)

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.

I swear sometimes, and this just started this week, that I feel something in there. It literally feels like a butterfly fluttering - it only happens about twice a day, and it really subtle, but its like nothing I have ever felt before, so I don't really know.

We bought our Nursery Furniture this weekend. I am in love with it! Here it is:

The crib is awesome, it converts from crib, to toddler bed, to big kid bed! I can't wait till the 28th, that is when we find out the sex and will begin painting the room and getting the carpets shampooed, and setting everything up. You may be saying - woah, that so early, well I will be about 20 weeks by then 1/2 way there and I just want to have it done and ready for anything :)

Along other lines, my MRI came back normal. Which is great news. I was really scared about that. Now I we are just awaiting the spinal tap/lumbar puncture procedure to be scheduled, and hopefully we can move beyond this. My OB said if I do have a problem with pressure in the spinal cord or on the brain (from Cerebral Spinal Fluid) then we would just have to monitor it closely throughout the pregnancy and when it comes time for labor, they will just give me a very very strong version of the epidural and let the labor and delivery happen as naturally as possible without me having to push much (we are avoiding a c-section at all costs- it is healthier for the baby of a diabetic mom to be delivered the old-fashioned way) She also said that they will induce me, most likely, at 39 weeks. So that means that I will be having my baby around June 25-28th :)

Here are some 15 weeks pics:

And my New Years Resoulution are: 1. Keep in better touch with friends and family and 2. Get organized!

Oh and I forgot to add. The results of our 1st tri screens came back NORMAL !!!!! The gentic counsler said that I have a lower than the average woman my age risk of having a baby with a chromosomal disorder. She gave me the exact numbers 1 in 16,000 something for one of the tests and 1 in 25,000 something for the other. Bun - your doing great!!
